【摘要】:Agitationoflubricatingoilwithairinequipment,suchasbearings,couplings,gears,pumps,andoilreturnlines,mayproduceadispersionoffinelydividedairbubblesintheoil.Iftheresidencetimeinthereservoiristooshorttoallowtheairbubblestorisetotheoilsurface,amixtureofairandoilwillcirculatethroughthelubricatingoilsystem.Thismayresultinaninabilitytomaintainoilpressure(particularlywithcentrifugalpumps),incompleteoilfilmsinbearingsandgears,andpoorhydraulicsystemperformanceorfailure.Thistestmethodmeasuresthetimefortheentrainedaircontenttofalltotherelativelylowvalueof0.2%volumeunderastandardizedsetoftestconditionsandhencepermitsthecomparisonoftheabilityofoilstoseparateentrainedairunderconditionswhereaseparationtimeisavailable.Thesignificanceofthistestmethodhasnotbeenfullyestablished.However,entrainedaircancausesponginessandlackofsensitivityofthecontrolofturbineandhydraulicsystems.Thistestmaynotbesuitableforrankingoilsinapplicationswhereresidencetimesareshortandgascontentsarehigh.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheabilityofturbine,hydraulic,andgearoilstoseparateentrainedair.Note18212;Thistestmethodwasdevelopedformineralbasedoils.Itmaybeusedforsomesyntheticfluids;however,theprecisionstatementappliesonlytopetroleumoils.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
