【摘要】:ThispracticeisrecommendedforuseinmeasuringtheconcentrationofVOCsinambient,indoor,andworkplaceatmospheres.Itmayalsobeusedformeasuringemissionsfrommaterialsinsmallorfullscaleenvironmentalchambersformaterialemissiontestingorhumanexposureassessment.SuchmeasurementsinambientairareofimportancebecauseoftheknownroleofVOCsasozoneprecursors,andinsomecases(forexample,benzene),astoxicpollutantsintheirownright.SuchmeasurementsinindoorairareofimportancebecauseoftheassociationofVOCswithairqualityproblemsinindoorenvironments,particularlyinrelationtosickbuildingsyndromeandemissionsfrombuildingmaterials.ManyvolatileorganiccompoundshavethepotentialtocontributetoairqualityproblemsinindoorenvironmentsandinsomecasestoxicVOCsmaybepresentatsuchelevatedconcentrationsinhomeorworkplaceatmospheresastopromptseriousconcernsoverhumanexposureandadversehealtheffects(6).Suchmeasurementsinworkplaceairareofimportancebecauseoftheknowntoxiceffectsofmanysuchcompounds.Inallthreeenvironments,inordertoprotecttheenvironmentasawholeandhumanhealthinparticular,itisnecessarytotakemeasurementsofairqualityaspartofanoverallassessmentinrelationtomandatoryrequirements.Thechoicesofsorbents,samplingmethod,andanalyticalmethodologyaffecttheefficiencyofsorption,recovery,andquantificationofindividualVOCs.Thispracticeispotentiallyeffectiveforawiderangeofvolatileorganiccompoundsfoundinair,overawiderangeofvolatilitiesandconcentrationlevels.However,itistheresponsibilityoftheusertoensurethatthesampling,recovery,analysis,andqualitycontrolforthemeasurementofaspecificVOCofinterestarewithinacceptablelimits.Guidanceforthisevaluationispartofthescopeofthispractice.1.1Thispracticeisintendedtoassistintheselectionofsorbentsandproceduresforthesamplingandanalysisofambient(1),indoor(2)andworkplace(3,4)atmospheresforavarietyofcommonvolatileorganiccompounds(VOCs).Itmayalsobeusedformeasuringemissionsfrommaterialsinsmallorfullscaleenvironmentalchambersorforhumanexposureassessment.1.2AcompletelistingofVOCsforwhichthispracticehasbeentested,atleastoverpartofthemeasurementrange(1.6),isshowninTables1-9.ForothercompoundsthispracticeshallbetestedaccordingtoEN1076(pumped);PracticeD6246,ISO16107,ANSI/ISEA104,EN838orEN13528-1/EN13528-2(diffusive);orotherappropriatevalidationprotocols(Sections13and14).(5,1)1.3ThispracticeisbasedonthesorptionofVOCsfromairontoselectedsorbentsorcombinationsofsorbents.Sampledairiseitherdrawnthroughatubecontainingoneoraseriesofsorbents(pumpedsampling)orallowedtodiffuse,undercontrolledconditions,ontothesorbenttubeortubes(diffusiveorpassivesampling).ThesorbedVOCsaresubsequentlyrecoveredbythermaldesorptionandanalyzedbycapillarygaschromatography.1.4Thispracticeappliestothreebasictypesofsamplersthatarecompatiblewiththermaldesorption:(1)pumpedsorbenttubescontainingoneormoresorbents;(2)axialdiffusivesamplers(typicallyofthesamephysicaldimensionsasstandardpumpedsorbenttubesandcontainingonlyonesorbent);and(3)radialdiffusivesamplers.1.5Thispracticerecommendsanumberofsorbentsthatcanbepackedinsorbenttubes,foruseinthesamplingofawiderangeofdifferentvolatileorganiccompoundsboilingintheran......
